Big News!

Well, remember how my friend Shea B got home from her mish a few weeks ago? Well, now she's engaged!!!! She and Kyle dated for a while before his mission, then she waited for them and then decided to go on her own mission. So Kyle waited for her. So they've both been waiting for 3 years and they're ready to get hitched!! I'm so stoked for them! Congrats guys!! (The pictures are some she took at her homecoming. Two are of me and Teece, but I find them quite hilarious!)

Random bits... nothing too significant :)

Hello all. Blogging has been nonexistent lately. Cuz, really I don't have much to say.

Don't get me wrong, my life is GREAT!!! I'm still dating the most amazing man alive and I still love him LOTS. :)

I think its just that I don't have pictures of anything. Sometimes I feel that blogging without pictures is no good. Only sometimes though.

Our friends Dallin and Brittney got engaged two weeks ago. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Teece and I were there, he proposed during a skit at Comedy Sportz. Funny funny, and cute. So excited for them!!!

Oh, and our friend Shea B got home from her mish last week! WELCOME HOME SHEA B!! I missed you and I freaking love you!!

In bad news, I hate the Swine Flu. Yes, hate is the word I want to use. Teece came down with it this week. I haven't seen him for 3 days and its messed with all our plans. His and mine. Boo. I want to stomp every little Swine Flu virus into a million pieces with hard angry boots. Grrrr!!

But he's better now. So I get to see him today! YA!!!

Oh, and in case you wanted to know - I am now a Yankees fan. Yes, indeed. Never was one for baseball before, but when you're boyfriend loves them and you watch lots of the games with him and his family ... you get converted. World Series - 1:1. Go YANKEES!

That's about it. Oh, I did my schedule for winter semester. I have a 400-level history writing class. Oh joy. :P

Oh the Wonders of the Weekend of Conference!

Isn't Conference weekend just great? I alwasy find myself wishing it wouldn't end, that we could keep listening to wonderful talks, eating delicous food (that's always my favorite part when I'm home for Conference :) ), and enjoying time spent together as a family. It's almost like another Christmas to me. :)

Well, this year I did not get to travel home to my family, sadly. But I did get to spend it with my sweetheart. :) It was a fun-filled weekend, I'm telling you!

Friday night, I took Teece out to experience his first Jdawg. Now, if you have never had a Jdawg, I must say, you've GOT to go try one. Even if hot dogs are only something you kind of like (like myself), you need to have one. It's like no hot dog you've ever eaten. The second after Teece bit into it, he got this wide-eyed look of "Woah!" and said, "You could put this on a plate just plain with nothing on it, and it'd still be one of the best things ever!" Yea, he's right on. Jdawgs are GOOOOOD!!!

Later that night we went to the BYU vs. USU game! Go Cougs!! (And thanks Gramps for the tickets!!) We took our friends Dallin and Brittney, and it was a grand old time! Sad day though, none of us remembered a camera... But BYU won, so the night was good!!

The next day, Teece and I drove up to SLC between Conference sessions to go to lunch with a lady he taught in France, and a bunch of guys from his mission. It was super fun! - even though they were all speaking in French and I couldn't understand a word. :) At one point, when Teece was jabbering away to the lady in French, he got a phone call. Now, his hands were covered in BBQ sauce, because he was eating ribs. So he couldn't really answer. He turned to me to ask me to answer it, but he said it in French, and then when I didn't respond he said it again. I was like, "What babe? I don't speak French." Haha, he'd totally been in the groove and forgotten what language he was speaking. Funny funny. :) My man is quite talented, yes indeed. :)

Well, that night while Teece was at Priesthood with his dad and brother, I took his little sister Shaye (Bubba is her nickname) to the elementary school nearby and we played on the playground. That girl is a monkey-bar magician! She can do all of them, multiple times, in multiple ways, and never gets tired! I still can't do the monkey-bars very well! After going back to the Taylor's, we all had Wallaby's (another place you all need to try!) and it was delicous! Thank you Taylor fam!

The next day we spent with his family, watching Conference, eating popcorn, playing "Last Word" - which got pretty intense! - and having a grand old time. His fam is great!

I think my favorite speakers were Elder Eyring and Elder Holland - which they usually are. :) They always seem to speak right to me. I love this gospel, I love our prophets and apostles, and I know they're ordained to be the leaders of Christ's church upon this earth. The gospel is true, and its wonderful!!

All in all, it was a grand Conference weekend. I missed my family like crazy, but I still enjoyed the times I had up here. :)

Ya... I ate Sushi...

Well, last night was Sushi night! We had a big triple date (me and Teece, Dallin and his lady Brittney, and Teece's friend Drew was Jane's date). Drew is big into sushi, and so is Dallin, but the rest of us had never tried it. I was honestly a little bit frightened, I even ordered my own curry dish (which was super good!) because I knew I probably wouldn't like the sushi. I don't even really like cooked fish, so why would I like mostly raw fish? Sounds sketchy to me...

But you know, it wasn't awful. The deep-fried tempura one was actually tasty - cuz it tasted like fried stuff! And nothing beats fried stuff! :) Though I wouldn't ever say to myself "Dang, I'm so in the mood for sushi right now!" I wouldn't be upset if someone else wanted to go there. I'm more inclined towards a delicous plate of pasta, with some crusty bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, with a big bowl of minestrone soup on the side. Mmmm, ya. :) Italians know the best ways to eat. :) Teece is pretty much of my opinion as well, though he liked the sushi more than I did.

And we all had such a blast! Playing the animal game at dinner (Teece's favorite game - if you've met him you know what I mean! :)) and then playing Pirate's Life at my house after. I totally would have won! - except that I was kinda helping Teece hoard his Life tiles, so he ended up beating me in the end. I'm such a good girlfriend. :) :)

A really big THANK YOU

Okay, I love college. It's a truly wonderful place to be. But you do feel quite insignificant - most of the time. Especially at BYU. Professors just aren't usually that "buddy-buddy" with you, and for good reason. They have thousands of kids come through their classes throughout the years, are absorbed in research, and a thousand other different things. I know they have a lot on their plates.

That's why I really appreciated what happened to me today. My British Lit professor (Dr, Walker) had us come to his office for ten minutes so we could discuss the papers we just turned in. I was fully expecting a "Do this better, maybe this, you got a B, have a great day" kind of thing. But Professor Walker was different - he reminded me of my high school teachers. And that's the greatest compliment I can give him, for my high school teachers shaped my life in profound ways.

After grading my paper, and asking me what I thought I'd done well and needed to work on, he went on to say what he thought I did spectacular on, and then agreed with me on what would possibly make it better and expounded a bit. He was genuinely interested in what I had to say and what my paper had to say. He said he appreciated all my comments in class, that I was very relevant and had great attention to detail. He asked what I was planning on doing for a career, and when I told him I wanted to be a teacher he was enthusiastic in his support. "That just fits for you Abbie" he said. He said that if I did for my students what I'm doing for our class now, I'd be a great teacher. Then he said if there was anything he could do to help me along my path - advice, knowledge, letters of recommendation - he'd be happy to help in any way he could. Mind you, this man has known me for about 3 weeks.

Now, I don't say all this to brag about myself - far from in in fact, because I know how much better I can be. I say this to show what an incredible man and teacher Professor Walker is. This may be harsh, but not many professors are good teachers - they're good researchers. I've never had a professor show this kind of support and interest in my before, and I'm sure not many students have. . It's the kind of thing you only see in high school, where the teacher has more time to get to know their students. Professor Walker takes that time, and will do anything to help the students that he so dearly loves.

This man has affected me in such a strong way. I've noticed how much more difficult it is to get motivated with college - there's no personal interest in you, unless you're a Monson Scholar or some such. I hadn't noticed the lack of it in my life until this interview with Professor Walker. He's made me feel that I can be great again, that I'm being watched, appreciated, and encouraged to go to greater efforts. I've been rejuvenated about my school experience - and I can't wait to prove my worth. Thank you Professor Walker - you've had such an impact on this young college lady's life.

I also want to say how much Teece has helped me. My man is a full academic scholarship holder at UVU - and he takes that very seriously. He's committed, smart, and disciplined. He's helped me want to become a better student again - as well as a better person. I'm so lucky to have him. :)

I'm so grateful for the people who influence my life. Just one experience can make a world of difference. So thank you all for what you do. :)

4 Months and Ultimate Frisbee!

Well, for once Teece and I actually took pictures! Hoorah!! :) I concocted a plan (thanks for the help Dallin!) to sneak him a present in the morning, and then I showed up with breakfast. It was great. :) :) He burned me a CD (cuz he's just great like that), took me up to Bridal Veil Falls (neither of us had ever been there), and then to dinner at La Dolce Vita (pretty darn good Italian!). It was an absolutely AMAZING night. He's a complete sweetheart. :) Lucky me :) :) :)

This is really an awful picture (I'm making the strangest face!), but the scenery (and the company!) is the best!!

Then last night was Ultimate Frisbee! Teece and all our guy friends have an intramural team - Undeafeated!! Go Ninja Turtles! (Ya, I don't know why that's their name - but it is. Weird boys.) Brittany (Dallin's lady) and I are the official cheerleaders, so we took some sweet vids and pictures. The one on here is of Teece's really sweet catch - all the more awesome cuz he happened to be right in front of me - so I actually got a good shot of it. :) GO BABE!!! (And P.S. - watch out for the British swear word at the end - the guy in blue was making me mad!)

Can I just say I'm pumped for my Cougs? They are doing .... shall I say, AWESOME?! Teece and I have watched both games so far (and really, I don't watch a lot of sports, unless Teece wants to, but it was actually me pushing to watch these games!), and dang they're doing GREAT! I'm a Cougar fan through and through this semester - All the way Cougs!!!

In other news, this week is Teece's and my 4 month anniversary. Crazy huh? I swear we've been dating longer than that. Every moment of it has been incredible. He's incredible. Life is GOOD.

Tried something new...

So, for the past two weeks I've been down in St. George playing "Mom" for my parents while they are on an Alaskan cruise for their 25th Anniversary. I love you Mum and Pops!!

Well, I've had some fun cooking down here (cuz my Mum's pantry is much more well stocked than my poor-college-student one is), and the other night I watched the Barefoot Contessa cook a delicous looking spaghetti and meatballs (which as a general rule isn't something I usually eat) and this... how do I describe it... devastatingly DELICOUS delectable DIVINE garlic bread. Oh my, I cannot even describe how much I wanted this garlic bread. She made a herb and garlic olive oil spread and put it all over this yummy ciabatta bread with some butter and baked it. Oh my, oh my, oh MY! It looked like heaven on earth! Literally!!! So, of course I had to make it. And I figured if I was going to make the bread, I might as well make the entire meal. I was so excited. :)

Well, sadly I had already cooked dinner that night. So I decided I would do it the next evening (last night). I couldn't find ciabatta bread (which, btw, is delicous. Great substitute for English Muffins if you don't like those, tastes great with steak sandwhiches, eggs, anything. One of my favorite breads - those Italians are so SMART!), but I found some delicious seminola bread (also delicous, but softer than ciabatta).

Well, I was sure my mom would have some ground meat, but I had used the last of the turkey for some Chili Ole a couple days previously (no regrets about that! Fantastic!!), and I couldnt' find any beef. But I did find frozen hamburgers. So I unthawed them and used them for my meatballs. (BTW, this morning I found some ground beef in the freezer - in like the one place I didn't look, of course).

Well, I made the meatballs, the sauce, the INCREDIBLE bread, and we all ate. (Though my brothers told me after I started cooking that they didn't like spaghetti - figures. :P) The spaghetti and meatballs were good - its still not my favorite dish, but it was good. But the bread, AH!! I loved it!! It was incredible, such amazing flavor, it just seeped all into the bread and AH! So good. I need to make it again. Soon. :) Good thing Teece likes garlic - cuz there's a LOT in it. :)
Speaking of my man, yes I do indeed miss him. Like a LOT. Can't wait to get back to Provo. :) :) :) Cuz he just moved into Glenwood! Now we'll only live 5 minutes away from each other. WOOHOO!!

My brothers have been great though, I loves them. :) I'll miss you guys!

1) What author do you own the most books by?
- David Eddings. Bar none. :) He's written like 24 books and I think I own 20 of them. He's great!!

2) What book do you own the most copies of?
-None. I'm not a fan of double copies.

3) Did it bother you that both those questions ended with prepositions?
-Um... no

4) What fictional character are you secretly in love with?
-Haha, Diana Loose and I used to have a list - remember Di? I think it included Numair Salmalin and George Cooper from Tamora Pierce's novels, Edward of course, Luthe from The Hero's Crown, our own made up fictional characters, Corlath from The Blue Sword, Mr. Darcy of course, Mr. Knightly as well of course, and others I think. Haha, good times being young. :)

5) What book have you read the most times in your life (excluding picture books read to children; i.e., Goodnight Moon does not count)?
-Um.... that'd be a toss up between the Harry Potter series, David Edding's series, The Work and the Glory series, and Robin McKinley's novels. Wow....

6) What was your favorite book when you were ten years old?
-I think that was about the age I was hooked on "The Man Who Loved Clowns". It was about a young girl who had an uncle with Downs Syndrome. Really good book. Ah, now I want to read it again!

7) What is the worst book you've read in the past year?
- Wow.... I don't even know. Probably something for school. :)

9) If you could force everyone you tagged to read one book, what would it be?
- The Agony and the Ecstasy. Hands down. Irving Stone is an incredible author, you learn so much and you're absolutely enthralled the entire time. Go read it!!!

- No idea...

- Probably a Robin McKinley book. Oh yes, that'd be good.

- I have the weirdest dreams all the time. I couldn't even pick one.

- Like, beneath my reading level? Crappy books? Dirty books? What is this? I always read stuff below my reading level, its fun. :) And I don't read dirty books. Weird question...

- Well, seeing as how I have yet to make it through it, Anna Karenina. I LOVE IT! I'm just having a hard time finishing it. Is that a contradiction? :)

- I don't think I have seen an obscure one.

- As writers? Russians. :) I like their depressing, life changing literature :)

- Never read Updike, but I like Roth. I even did a whole term paper on a short story of his. :)

- Shakespeare! Love love love Shakespeare. Milton is okay, as is Chaucer, but Shakespeare is brilliant.

- Like what I haven't read? I had a teacher tell me one time it was a terrible thing that I'd never read Huckleberry Finn. I gave it a try and gave up in the first few chapters. Boring!!

Big news, little news, basically a catching up :)

Hello blogging friends! I must apologize for my lack of bloggering... I'm an inefficient slacker. :) But I do have news!

I have officially given my two weeks notice to Brick Oven - my last day is August 6th!! I know, this comes as a shocker to many people. I loved Brick Oven, but it was time to move on. I have a new job at University Communications at BYU - its gonna be GREAT! I'm a student assistant and I get to work with a bunch of important people at BYU. I'm so excited! And, the fact that I don't have to work nights or weekends, and will never smell like pizza again are all definate pluses. :) So, if you've been wanting to visit me at the BO, or wanted a discount when you're there to eat with me, you've got just over a week. See you there!

Last week was a sister play week! Teece was gone to Lake Powell with his fam all week, so I commandeered my sisters to keep me company. :) We had so fun! Jane spent most of the week with me. We went to lunch lots, saw Harry Potter 6 (Good and bad, the end was horrible), and the Proposal (HILARIOUS!!!) went to the Sweet Tooth Fairy (Amazing cupcake shop! Thanks for pointing it out Marianne!), and shopped. :) A LOT. Saturday we had our traditional sister luncheon at Olive Garden - Thanks Kat! YUM! Thanks sisters, you rock!!

School is officially starting in a month! Ah!! I swear, this summer has flown by. But I'm really really excited for school to start. It'll be great to be back in class, have homework (yes, I really did just say that :) ), and be learning again. I have some pretty fun classes, and of course, Teece is moving to Provo in the fall, so that just makes it all the better. :)

Speaking of Teece, my posts this summer have all mentioned him somehow. So I dare not be remiss in this post. :) Did you know my man plays piano? Ya, and he's GOOD. He will heartily deny it, but its true. I know it. :) So here's a pic of my handsome incredible man playing the piano for me. He's great :) :)

Goin' a boatin'!

This past Saturday, Teece's parents were great enough to let us take out their boat with a bunch of our friends (Teece, me, Jeff Bean, Jay Baker, Mike Meyers, Adam Shumway, Dallin Garner, and Adri Schneider). It was an over cast and windy day, but we still had a blast! (A little bit of bad weather's not gonna keep us on the shore!)

Teece skied first, then I had a go at it (two skiis I'm good at - I've only ever done sloalm [spelling?] once, so it took me a few tries). Then lighting came up so we had to get back in the boat. After the lightning calmed down, everyone had a go at wakeboarding. Props to Shum, Dal, and Jay - all who tried it for the first time!

When the water got a bit too rough, we brought out the tube!! Let me just say this - Teece is a TERRIFYING driver when you're on the tube. And FYI: being a terrifying driver for tubers is basically like being the BEST ever!!! The more terrifying the better! And we had some awesome crashes!

Basically.... the best weekend ever :) :) :)

Wow, its been a LONG time since last I blogged - sorry friends! I keep meaning to, but I'm dating this incredible man and I seem to spend every spare moment with him. :) Which I love. :) This past weekend he and I traveled down to St. George to visit my familia!! It was the BEST!! I'm still waiting to get pics from my sister (cuz I only took two pics - I always forget I have my camera on me!!), but I wanted to blog first. :)

Well, Thursday night Teece's best guy friend Jeff Bean got home from his mission (Welcome Home Jeff!) so we played with all our friends that night at Jeff's home. Good times! I stayed in AF that night at my grandparents (Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!) and Teece and I got an early start Friday morning (Thanks to Clark - Teece's dad - for letting us borrow his car!). We were delayed a bit cuz the bank wasn't open, (silly bank) but we got on our way and headed out! The four hour drive went by SO fast - probably cuz Teece and I were talking and singing the whole way down. :)

Once we hit St. George we visited my sister Kat at hair school (Teece's first impression of her was "She talks so fast!" Hahhahahah! Love you sister!!). We then headed home to my Papadre and chatted with him for a bit. Then we were sent grocery shopping for our BBQ the next day! We ate a pasta lunch with my Daddio, and then watched some Carol Burnett Show with him and my sister (Ah, that show makes me smile!).

Then my Mum, Jaynie and Squirt got back from Bear Lake, so we chatted for a bit. It gets a little crazy when we're all together, Teece can vouch for this. :)

That night Teece and I headed out with my parents to see if we could watch the flash floods come out of Zion's - but sadly, it didn't reach the bridge. :( So we headed to Las Lupita's for some delicious Mexican food with my parents. YUM! After coming home, we wound down the night by watching some Knight's Tale - GOOD movie!!

The next morning we played some Risk with Squirt while eating orange rolls (Squirt ended the game early, but I was well on my way to at least being able to fight TC for world domination - usually he kicks my trash instantly. :) ) We waited for Walks to get home from EFY, then he, my sisters, Teece and I headed out to Sand Hollow for some swimming and cliff jumping! SOOOO much fun! The water was perfect, the cliffs were fun (though it hurt to jump off them!) and there were lots of waves from the boats. :) Good times. :) :)

After swimming, Teece and I went to see if the used bookstore was open - which of course it wasn't. But Baskin Robbins was! So we got some yummy shakes. Then we had a big BBQ at home with my fam, my aunt and uncle Debi and Rich and their fam, Kat and her Man-possee, and Jane and two of her friends. It was great!! My burger was WAY too big, but everything was delicious. :) Thanks Mum and Dad!!

After dinner, my dad, Uncle Rich, Teece and I headed out to do some skeet shooting. It was awesome!! Teece will tell you I outshot him, but its not true. Once he got the hang of it again (he hadn't been in forever), he was outshooting me. :) Go Teece!! And thanks Daddy :)

After shooting, we came back to do some fireworks with my fam. Kat was in charge (as always) and it was a great show. Great, great, great night. :) :)

The next day Teece and I headed out early again, to make it back to AF for Jeff's Homecoming. Again, the drive went by real quick. :) Jeff's talk was amazing (Teece told him if he mentioned his name he'd buy him a donut - which Jeff did. Hahah!) and we had some good times at Jeff's house after playing Catch Phrase and chatting. Then we went back to Teece's house for popcorn and visiting with his fam. All in all, a great ending day for a GREAT weekend.

Well friends, hope this LONG blog makes up for my lack lately. I'll add more pics when my sister gets them to me tonight.

Kristina gets her mission call!!!!

So, my roomie and bestie Kristina Nicole Baird has her mission call! I swear, she's the fastest missionary ever. She decided just a few weeks ago to go, got her papers in within a week, and her call was in the mail 5 days later! She's meant to go, and I couldn't be happier for her!! I'm gonna miss her a ton. She's going to the Morris Town, New Jersey mission and she leaves September 23rd! CONGRATS again Kristina, you'll be the best missionary ever. :)

Never Again

It's like that Kelly Clarkson song. Except that instead of saying "Never again" about a past lover, I'm saying never again too...

- Eating 1 piece of a sample Salmon Artichoke pizza

- Eating 3 more pieces of 3 different trial runs of a Pine-colada pizza

... and then trying to work my shift.

My stomach hates me right now. But thanks to Greg, my assistant manager who let me go home. You're great!

P.S. My man is pretty much the best. Just so you know. :)

Just around my corner...

So, next to my apartment is this little lane that runs back into some houses behind us. It's absolutely gorgeous, with trees overhanging and a little dirt track. Today, I was headed to church and I noticed this beautiful pink rosebush in there, so I had to come home and snap some pictures!!

Random Updates... :)

So, blogging this summer is kinda wierd for me. I just keep on doing these random posts, but they're fun right? ..... :)

In case you didn't know, I'm dating this most incredible man known as TC Taylor (Teece). He's incredible, treats me so well, and basically everything is perfect. :) The past couple weeks I've gone to watch him Ump Pony League games up in AF on Wednesdays - and this week I brought my camera :)

He's the most handsome Ump out there :)

I started practicing my flute!! Its weird - my fingers have muscle memory still, but I don't know any of the notes anymore. So its slow going. :)

Today, I got a really bad tip on a huge bill - BOO. Then I had a table stiff me - double BOO. But I also had a nice rich man (you can tell their rich cuz they have the heavy, metal credit cards!) who tipped me great - there's hope left in this world. :) Thank you nice rich man!

Tonight, I'm making frog-eye salad - YUM!!!

I have a calling in my ward now - I'm on the Enrichment Committee. Nothing too high stress, but I'm glad to have a calling. :)

My sister Jaynie is on HT (Heritage Tours) right now - I'M SO JEALOUS!!!!

These things are making me happy lately...

- My fam was in town this weekend - I love them :)

- I bought the Conference Ensign today - SO excited

- Twizzlers - they just taste so good right now!

- My bike - I love my bike :)

- Summer - summer ROCKS!!

- Curly hair - I'm on a kick right now

...Oh, and this guy named TC Taylor. He's making me pretty happy as well. :) :) :) :) :)

Life ROCKS. Don't any of you forget it :)

Lately...

I have several projects this summer....

-Type up all my notes from last semester (they'll last longer that way)

-Practice my flute (its been a LONG time)

-Work on my novel (also been a very long time...)

-Cook new recipes (I re-subscribed to Everyday Rachael Ray! So excited)

-Keep my room very very clean (Good so far!)

So far I'm doing pretty good. :) I started typing my notes tonight, its great fun :)

In other news - I am HAPPY. Yes I am. I look like this dude all the time...

(Well, maybe not quite like him....)
